Zion Gate Records was started by our owner, Matthew Butler, as a home recording studio setup where friends would come over to record, write music, jam, and generally enjoy a musical experience. When the studio moved into its present commercial location, the general philosophy remained the same.
At Zion Gate Records, we don’t treat artists like just another booking. We like to see artists come away with a great product. We provide a relaxed, yet professional atmosphere where creativity is free to take the reins.
We began building the studio into our present location in October 2005. Over the past years, recording equipment and facilities have been constantly upgraded. Our studio includes a comfortable lobby, control room, studio room, and vocal/isolation booth. Please visit the photos page to view some photos of the studio.

Matthew Butler, President & Founder Email: matt@zgrecords.com Matthew was born singing and always loved music. He sang solos in his high school plays, choir and was an amazing self-taught musician, playing piano, drums and guitar. He always loved music! Matthew’s interest in audio engineering began in 2000 after a visit to a friend’s home recording studio. Initially, the studio was set up at his parent’s home and in 2005, Matthew’s dream became a reality. With a new wife, a baby on the way and not much cash in the bank, the lease was signed on the space at 810 W. State Street. ZION GATE RECORDS was born and Matthew’s dream became a reality! Matthew has always been passionate about his music, the studio, his love for family and friends and most importantly....spreading the gospel of Christ through his testimony and the music recorded at Zion Gate Records. Tragedy struck in June of 2008 as Matthew and his best friend Steve were murdered in a random robbery. Jamie, Matthew’s wife, now manages the studio.
